8 days, 4 States. Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. A ridiculous number of pictures, a few questionable decisions, a lot of walking, and enough memories to fill several blog posts. Basically, the perfect kind of trip.

Day 1 – Griswold & Norwich, Connecticut
We started the trip in Griswold and Norwich, Connecticut, with sunflowers and dinner. Because apparently when you travel, you need to find pretty flowers before you can properly feed yourself. The sunflowers were beautiful, the scenery was exactly what I wanted, and dinner was the perfect way to end our first day of adventure.

Day 2 – Mystic, Connecticut
Mystic was officially on my Connecticut bucket list, and it did NOT disappoint. We explored the Mystic Seaport Museum, wandered through the shops, went geocaching, and generally did what we do best—wander around and see what we can find. And then we received a Shit Note for parking, which was probably not the official Mystic tourism experience, but it sure became part of our story.

Day 3 – Whale Watching in Plymouth, Massachusetts
Whale watching in Plymouth was one of my favorite days of the entire trip. I took an absolutely ridiculous number of pictures—which, honestly, is saying something because I already take more pictures than most people. The whale tails were my favorite, especially when we got the bonus rainbow over the whales. And yes, getting on that boat was COLD. Thankfully, I had brought enough clothes to survive my own bad planning. Highly recommend Captain John Whale Watching.

Day 4 – Newport, Rhode Island
Newport brought us the Cliff Walk, ocean views and a whole lot of walking. Because apparently looking at beautiful scenery isn’t enough—I have to walk a long way to look at it?? The views were worth it though. On the way back to Amy’s, we also came across some Minions along the way that caught our attention and, naturally…required pictures.

Day 5 – Statue of Liberty, New York
This was the day Amy and I went to see the Statue of Liberty. We had to take another boat, because apparently one boat wasn’t enough for this trip. But I loved it! We didn’t just get to see the Statue of Liberty – we explored Liberty Island, went through the museum, saw all kinds of interesting things and I even got to sit on what appeared to be a giant foot. Because obviously that is something you do when visiting the Statue of Liberty.

Day 6 – New York City
Then came New York City. Times Square was exactly the kind of crazy I expected, and yes, it rained. Because apparently the weather needed to participate in our adventure too. But I also got to see Central Park, and I actually walked up a rock. You should be proud of me for not falling…. And then there was the Naked Cowboy. Yep. I saw him. That’s really all I have to say about that except… New York, you do you.

Day 7 – Mystic, Connecticut Again
Back to Mystic for the Mystic Aquarium, more shopping and Olde Mistick Village. The aquarium had all kinds of amazing animals, and then somehow we ended up getting to hold a parrot while shopping. Because apparently my trip needed a random parrot encounter. I’m not complaining. We finished the day with dinner at J. Gilbert’s, which was a pretty damn good way to end another full day of exploring.

Day 8 – Providence, Rhode Island
Our final adventure was Providence, Rhode Island, where we did the Escape the City outdoor escape room. Because after eight days of traveling, walking, exploring and taking pictures, apparently the appropriate thing to do was make our brains work too. It was a fun way to finish the trip—and definitely a different kind of adventure than the previous seven days.

And Just Like That… It Was Over
Eight days went by way too fast. We saw sunflowers, ships, whales, cliffs, the Statue of Liberty, New York City, aquariums, parrots and one very memorable Naked Cowboy. There were beautiful moments, funny moments, tired moments, cold moments and apparently even parking-note moments. There were also a LOT of pictures. Shocking, I know.
But that’s what I love about traveling. It’s not just about checking places off a list. It’s about the random things that happen along the way—the stories you didn’t plan, the things that make you laugh later, and the moments you know you’re going to remember.
And this trip definitely gave me plenty of those. Now I just need to figure out where the hell I’m going next.
