If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to spend a full day with a friend who is a Sasshole like me… buckle up. It’s part adventure, part “what the hell are we doing,” and part “why didn’t we plan better?”
Spoiler: We still crushed it.

Stop 1: Geocaching – Mary’s First Time (And She Showed Me Up)
We kicked things off with a little geocaching action because nothing says “fun day out” like wandering around looking suspicious while pretending you totally know what you’re doing.
This was Mary’s first time geocaching… and she was GOOD.
Like, immediately picking up on clues, spotting things I probably would’ve walked past five times, good. Meanwhile I’m over here like, “Is it under this rock? Or this one? Or… all of them?”
Safe to say—she’s hooked now. And I may have created a geocache monster.

Stop 2: Scratch-Off Adventure – National Museum of the Great Lakes
Next up on our “let’s see where the day takes us” tour was one of my Rio scratch-off cards, and boom—we landed on the National Museum of the Great Lakes.
This was my first scratch-off with Mary, and honestly? Solid pick.
If you’re into history, ships, or just want to learn how wild and powerful the Great Lakes really are, this place delivers. It’s one of those spots where you walk in thinking, “Okay, quick visit,” and then suddenly you’re deep into shipwreck stories and maritime life like you’re about to captain a freighter yourself.
We learned stuff. We explored. We didn’t sink any ships. Big success.

Stop 3: Scratch-Off #2… AKA “We Are Not Prepared”
Feeling bold, we went for another scratch-off. Result? Indoor rock climbing at Adventus Climbing.
Cue the chaos.
We pull into the parking lot, all excited… and then it hits us: We are absolutely NOT dressed for this.
No proper leggings. No “let’s climb a wall” outfits. Just vibes and poor planning. So what do two determined women do? Shopping for what we need, obviously. Because nothing says “athletic preparation” like panic-buying leggings 20 minutes before climbing a wall.
The Climb (and the Real Win)
We made it back. Dressed appropriately this time. Slightly more prepared. Slightly. And here’s the thing—Mary wasn’t thrilled about this part at first. But being a strong Sasshole like me she rolled with it.
And that? That’s the real win of the day.
Because sometimes the best parts of these random, slightly chaotic adventures aren’t the places—it’s pushing through the “I don’t wanna” moments and doing the thing anyway.
Also… we didn’t fall. So there’s that.

Lessons Learned (Because Apparently We Needed Them)
- Bring more clothes than you think you’ll need
- Scratch-off adventures = zero predictability
- Mary is annoyingly good at geocaching
- Shopping will always be part of the plan, whether you like it or not
- Saying yes (even when you don’t want to) usually leads to the best stories
Final Thoughts From Your Favorite Sasshole
Was the day perfectly planned? Absolutely not. Did we make questionable decisions? Also yes. Would I do it all over again? 100%.
Because these are the days you remember—the random ones, the slightly messy ones, the ones where you end up buying leggings just to climb a wall you didn’t even know you’d be climbing that morning.
And honestly… if that’s not On Davis Time, I don’t know what is.
