Let me just start with this: I willingly drove three hours to go flying down ice in what is basically a tiny sled with commitment issues.
And I’d do it again. Immediately.
We went to Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park and honestly, I expected it to be one of those “that was fun for 20 minutes” kind of places. Nope. This place is a whole vibe.

It’s Not Just Luge (Because Apparently I Like Options)
Before we even got to the main event, I realized this place is stacked. There’s skiing, skating, a concession stand (important), and—my personal favorite—fire pits.
Yes, fire pits.
Which means you can warm up, hang out, and pretend you’re outdoorsy even if your main sport is “holding a phone and supervising.”
The “Don’t Die” Lesson (But Make It Funny)
Before they let you launch yourself down an icy track at questionable speeds, they walk you through what you’re doing.
- Helmets? Check.
- Arm guards? Check.
- Dignity? TBD.
The training happens in a tent, and honestly, it was one of my favorite parts. The instructor didn’t just go through the motions—they made it funny, a little snarky, and actually memorable. You know…so you don’t immediately forget everything and crash into a wall.

Then… We did it
My old lady self did it! But only once – the rest of my family did it multiple times LOL.
As the person who is usually stuck behind the camera documenting everyone else’s life I didn’t expect any pics of me, but….
One of the absolute best surprises? The staff takes photos and videos and sends them to you. Which means I finally have proof that I exist and do fun things, not just selfies and blurry action shots of everyone else.
Honestly, 10/10 just for that.

Was It Worth the Drive?
Short answer: 100%.
Long answer: also 100%, but with snacks for the road.
If you’re even thinking about going, book ahead. They sell out, and nothing ruins your day faster than driving three hours just to stare at other people having fun. I’m thankful I checked the website in advance.
Not Just a Winter Thing
Here’s the part that got me: this isn’t just a winter destination.
They’ve got warm-weather stuff too—zip lines, wheel luge (yes, that’s a thing), rock climbing…basically a whole “I’m outdoorsy now” starter pack.
So yeah, if I’m anywhere near Muskegon again, I’m stopping.
Final Thoughts
If you want something different, slightly thrilling, and way more fun than it has any right to be—go.
If you want to laugh, try something new, and maybe question your life choices halfway down an ice track—definitely go.
And if you want actual proof that you participated in your own life (thanks to their photos/videos)…you already know.
Note: the pics with the Muskegon Luge logo were taken by them and used with permission – so thankful for that! Below is a video overview of our adventure.
