Tricki Takes on Grand Haven: Geocaching, Rio Cards & Random Scavenger Chaos

Fun in Grand Haven, MI

Some friendships are built over coffee. Others are built over geocaching trails, scratch-off adventure cards, and taking ridiculous photos in public because a Scavenger app told you to.

I made the three-hour drive to hang out with Vicki — or as we officially became known during the scavenger hunt… Tricki (Tressie + Vicki because apparently we are creative geniuses). Honestly, it was completely worth the drive, even though I missed Maizie like crazy.

Of Course We Did Geocaching

Because what kind of adventure day would it even be without geocaching? There’s just something fun about wandering around looking suspicious while pretending you totally know where you’re going. We found caches, laughed a lot, and probably confused several innocent people along the way.

Honestly, geocaching with friends always makes the day better. Half the fun is the adventure. The other half is the random conversations and chaos that happen in between stops.

Rio Cards Sent Us on an Unexpected Adventure

One of the Rio scratch-off cards sent us on an absolutely beautiful hike. Was it cold? Yes. Did we question our life choices at least once? Also yes. But it ended up being one of those moments that makes you thankful you didn’t stay home under a blanket scrolling your phone.

The trail was gorgeous, and we stopped constantly to take photos — nature shots, goofy shots, and plenty that captured my actual personality LOL.  The memories and photos were 100% worth it.

Tricki Takes on the Let’s Roam Scavenger Hunt

Then came the Let’s Roam scavenger hunt in Grand Haven — and honestly, this may have been my favorite part of the day.

The app immediately asked us to create a team name, and somehow “Tricki” was born. Which sounds either like a pop duo or two middle-aged women causing problems in public. Accurate either way.

The coolest thing about the scavenger app was how it pushed us to notice things we probably would have walked right past otherwise. We explored places like the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, checked out the Coast Guard boat, spotted murals and artwork on buildings, and learned random local history while wandering around downtown.

And the app constantly made us stop for ridiculous photo challenges. Would we normally pose for random funny photos in public? I would but not Vicki.   Did Vicki do it anyway because the app told us to?  Yep.

Days Like This Matter

Sometimes you just need a day that’s completely random, especially with friends. A little hiking. A little exploring. A little geocaching. A lot of laughing.

These are the kinds of adventures that remind me life doesn’t always have to be some huge expensive trip to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s just driving across the state to spend time with a friend and saying yes to weird little adventures together.

And honestly? Tricki may need another adventure soon.
