The Landscape Was F’n Amazing
Colorado doesn’t play fair. Everywhere we turned it was another “Wait, stop, I need a photo!” moment.
We hiked through mountains, climbed up viewpoints that stole our breath (not just because of altitude) and wandered tiny mountain towns full of quirky shops, good restaurants and the kind of people who look like they were born wearing hiking boots.
The Weather Tried to Kill Me, But I Fought Back (Sort Of)
Leave it to me to pack like I’m going on a casual fall trip when Colorado had very different plans. The temperature dropped faster than my will to live on a Monday morning. I will be forever thankful for the fuzzy pjs I bought prior to the trip,
And…..I slept in a suitcase. Plot Twist: it actually worked.
Ok I didn’t sleep in a suitcase – I kept calling my sleeping bag a suitcase. But I woke up alive so I will call that a win LOL
When Someone ALMOST Used Underwear as Currency
You haven’t bonded with a group until someone pulls out the wrong item while trying to pay for something.
Let’s just say one of the women reached into her things, went to hand over “money”, and instead came up swinging with a pair of underwear.
I truly don’t know if the cashier has recovered. We laughed so hard we nearly rolled into the nearest canyon.
Crow Communication: F-Caw-F
At some point the group’s energy shifted from “sweet nature loving women’s retreat” to “feral crow cult”
Instead of yelling each others names across the campsite, we developed a call:
“F-CAW-F”
Elegant? No. Functional? Absolutely. Terrifying to other hikers? A strong maybe. But…that’s what sisterhood sounds like. If sisterhood was run by chaotic, profanity-loving crows.
Plot Twist: The Trip Where Everything was Actually Provided
Even though the weather, altitude, and my questionable survival instincts were struggling, the owner of PlotTwist had everything handled (Hi Heather!)
She planned, prepped, organized and anticipated every need – from gear, to food, to activities, to making sure no one accidentally wondered off into the mountains. It was magical to just be able to show up, breathe in the fresh mountain air and let the adventure unfold.
Enter Baheya: Spiritual Healing in the Mountains
As if the trip wasn’t already enough of a reset, the incredible Baheya did spiritual healing sessions.
Imagine sitting in nature surrounded by mountains older than time itself, while Baheya led us though grounding, energy work, reflection and the kind of peace that sneaks up on you and rearranges your insides in the best way.
Her presence made the trip not just fun and wild – but deeply meaningful.
Plot Twist Colorado: Where I Went to Find Myself
Between the freezing nights, suitcase-Sleeping survival hacks, underwear-based economy attempts, crow coded communications, breathtaking hikes, spiritual healing, and small town adventures – this trip gave me everything I didn’t know I needed.
I came home with: 1. A fully thawed body (eventually). 2. A phone full of landscape photos. 3. A heart fuller than my backpack. 4. A renewed sense of what it means to be wild, connected and alive. 5. My forever OG friends.
