LINES – March Creative Prompt

LINES - March creative prompt
Shadow lines from my deck rails

The creative prompt for March is LINES. I am going to try to find multiple ways to interpret this prompt, but as a photographer of course my go to is likely going to be leading lines. Anything goes though – from fishing lines to grocery lines to electric lines to leading lines.

I will be sharing my March creativity on Social with the Hashtag #OTDLines, I hope you will join me.

If you want to follow me on social to see the “LINES” I discover, you can find me on Facebook (On Davis Time), Instagram (@OnDavisTime), and Twitter (@TressieLDavis).

The Creative Prompt for February is FROZEN – I mean, what could be more appropriate this time of year in Michigan? But as always, interpret the prompt however you see fit.

I will be sharing my “Frozen” creations on Social using the Hashtag #ODTFrozen, I hope you will join me.

LIGHTS – January Creative Prompt

Sunlight Selfie

I am a person who loves creative prompts, but after trying a weekly creative prompt and feeling too pressured to keep up I have decided to move forward with a monthly prompt instead. The first of each month I will post a new prompt, and for that month I will look for ways to incorporate that prompt into my creative pursuits (yes I know it’s Jan 2, sue me – I’ll do better moving forward). And rather than following up with a post, you may see the results on my social media with a hashtag provided in the original monthly post.

Januarys prompt will be LIGHTS. Hashtag #ODTLIGHTS

Join me if you like and interpret “LIGHTS” any way you choose – spotlight, studio light, sunlight, candle light, fairy lights, or even something that lights your life.

If you want to follow me on social, you can find me on Facebook (On Davis Time), Instagram (@OnDavisTime), and Twitter (@TressieLDavis).

On Davis Time – Creative Challenge Week of April 12

For the Patterns challenge, I went back to photography and decided to photograph patterns in nature.

Were flowers an obvious choice? Whatever, I couldn’t help myself – it’s SPRING. I bought a bouquet at the grocery store and took closeups. Look at these beautiful patterns!!

And this one – it looks like a pattern of tiny yellow flowers within a flower!

Then I just started looking around for more patterns, and on what I call my “Happy Shelf” I saw a shell that I brought back from a Florida trip three years ago – a beautifully perfect spiral pattern.

As I’ve worked through these weekly challenges, I’m really starting to discover that while I do enjoy traditional art, photography really and truly is where my heart is. So…while I may continue to do other types of art on occasion (especially when Riley is with me!!) you will likely start to see more of them completed with photography. And maybe some more wire art because I really enjoyed that as well.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE IS ‘CANDID’

Yes I realize that sounds like it’s geared toward photography. No I didn’t choose it because I’m choosing to do more photos. I actually scheduled all of the weekly challenges on my calendar back in February. In any case, as always – you may interpret and execute the challenge any way and with any artistic medium you choose. Please use #ODTCreativeChallenge when sharing your creations online – I would love to see what you create! Next week I will share a photo of what I created along with the next creative prompt. I hope you will join me!

On Davis Time – Creative Challenge Week of April 5

Well I did it, I completed the ‘Hands’ challenge. I’ve been wanting to complete a challenge with Origami and I wasn’t sure if this was the right one or not, but I figured I can always try another one later. So….here is my paper hand saying “I love you” in ASL 🙂

I found the YouTube instructions HERE. My biggest struggle was that I used an origami square that was too small (6×6 inch) which made some of the folding difficult – but the instructions at that link were very good!

And once I got the “I love you” out of the way, I refolded the fingers for the people I don’t love LOL

Looks more like a cactus than a middle finger but….I know what it is haha.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE IS ‘PATTERNS’

As always use any creative medium you choose to complete the challenge. Please use #ODTCreativeChallenge when sharing your creations online – I would love to see what you create! Next week I will share a photo of what I created along with the next creative prompt. I hope you will join me!
