LOVE – December Creative Prompt

The Creative Prompt for December is LOVE.

Yes, it seems like maybe I could have gone more toward “family” or “holidays” but I went for LOVE because I figured this way it could include anything that you love – whether it’s people, or animals, or food, or decorations or whatever.

Show me what love means to you!

I will be sharing my love creations on Social media with the Hashtag #ODTLove, I hope you will join me!

If you want to follow me on social to see my “LOVE” creations, you can find me on Facebook (On Davis Time), Instagram (@OnDavisTime), and Twitter (@TressieLDavis).

How to Have Fun Spending Time Alone

It’s great to have other people with you on adventures and trips, but you don’t have to! Sometimes the most peaceful and enjoyable times are spent alone.

But sometimes the challenge is deciding what to do. While it’s always a fun idea to plan a long weekend in another city/state to visit roadside attractions, museums, etc , that isn’t always an option. What do you do then?

Read on for some great ideas!

10 Things to do Alone

  1. Find a local Restaurant you’ve never been to and visit for your next meal
  2. Make a Time Capsule – all you need is a container and a handful of things that represent the current time and your current life. Photos, newspaper articles, or a letter written to yourself or your children.
  3. Read a book or listen to an audio book in the Park.
  4. Find a local nature trail that you haven’t visited and go for a hike
  5. Visit a Local Museum
  6. Go see a Movie
  7. Create or Add to Your Bucket List
  8. Take an Online Class
  9. Write a letter to someone you love
  10. Visit the 5 closest Roadside Attractions – find them with this App (take pics and share!)
  11. Geocaching – this is fun alone and with friends!

The Newest Addition to My List – The Adventure Challenge Book

If you are looking for even more unique and engaging ideas, give The Adventure Challenge Book (Solo Edition) a try. I just recently purchased it and have so far only done one challenge but am so excited to do more.

The “no take backs, you have to do it no matter what” rules of the game provides a little pressure to the challenge, while the icons next to the scratch off secret challenges give you an idea of when to scratch off (or not to scratch off) each challenge. For example whether you need to be indoors due to weather, or whether to avoid water. Which I um…didn’t do my first challenge LOL.

But the best part of all, is the room for notes, and a photo, which turns the Adventure Challenge Book into a scrapbook of memories.

For a look at my first Solo Adventure Challenge, check out this reel I made.

They also have a Couples Edition and Family Edition, as well as bundles that include a camera.

Do you like to travel and explore solo? What are your favorite things to do alone?

BROKEN – November Creative Prompt

The creative prompt for November is BROKEN.

When I was looking for an example photo for this post all I could find was this raggedy building from a trip I took with my daughter so this may be a difficult prompt for me. But broken could be anything – a broken window, a broken path, or a broken heart.

Whether you take the prompt literally or figuratively, how would you incorporate BROKEN into your creative work?

I will be sharing what I come up with on Social Media using the Hashtag #ODTBroken, I hope you will join me!

UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE – October Creative Prompt

UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE - October Creative Prompt
Florida nature turned into a smile

The Creative Prompt for October is UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE. Don’t think too deep about this one, it’s not supposed to be fancy or any specific type of “unique”. It’s honestly just meant as a trigger to give things a second, third or even fourth look or thought before being finished with them as subjects.

Use objects to create something you didn’t think they could be. If you have “finished” photographing a subject, continue – going above, below, behind. Find a natural “frame”, or some blurry foreground to give it a different perspective. Or even just use a different tool than you normally do.

I will be sharing my UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE on Social Media using the hashtag #ODTUnique, I hope you join me!
